Ortho Acoustic WAW Part 6.

A quick build update. Both boxes sealed and wired up.

Baffles treated with two layers of hardwax oil, glued to the boxes with Casco SuperFix+ and ready to receive the elements. I added some stuffing to the bass compartments to compensate for the limited volume. No stuffing for the W5-2143 since I usually find it affecting the mid-range in a negative way.

The elements in place. Time to bring these speakers into the house for a first listening impression...

And here they are positioned low and close to the wall. I still need to construct hoods for them and add sound absorbents like on the original OA-50.

My initial listening impression is ridiculously good (almost like a cold Margarita on a hot summers day). The W5-2143 sounds great as usually and the sub-woofer is filling in nicely below 100 Hz. The orto-acoustic principle seems to work even in this configuration and this is with the somewhat crude plate amps. I am planning to replace them with another power amp in combination with Rod Elliotts P48a sub-woofer controller. This seems like the perfect application to tryout the ELF principle. So still a lot to do but also a lot already done...
